Tim Kinsey’s efforts in defending a workers’ compensation fraud case result in a guilty plea and jail time. Nicholas Zappas, a former Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy, plead guilty to six misdemeanor counts of insurance fraud after failing to disclose his true physical capabilities during sworn deposition testimony taken by Kinsey. Zappas was sentenced to six months in jail and three years of probation, and will have to pay $34,838 in restitution to Orange County and $1,000 to the Workers’ Compensation Fraud Assessment Fund.
