The California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers’ Compensation has announced that effective January 1, 2022, the medical-legal mileage reimbursement rate will increase from 56 cents per mile to 58.5 cents per mile, an increase of 2.5 cents. This new rate must be paid for any travel on or after January 1, 2022. The increase is tied to the IRS mileage rate, per Labor Code Section 4600. The IRS announced their rate increase in IRS Bulletin IR-2021-251, dated December 17, 2021.
